Below is a list of upcoming meetings, guided tours and cultural events related to the Morris Canal. Please check back for updates and let us know about any new events being scheduled!



  • Bloomfield Morris Canal Greenway Hike: Morris Canal enthusiast and Bloomfield Councilman Rich Rockwell will lead a walk along the north end of the Morris Canal Greenway in Bloomfield on August 11 at 9 a.m. The walk begins at the Pilch Street foot bridge behind Demarest School.   • Waterloo Canal Heritage Day: The Canal Society of New Jersey is offering a wide range of programming for the whole family this summer at Waterloo Village. Stop by Waterloo Village on August 11 to visit visit the Highlands Canal Boat Exhibit, see blacksmith, seamstress, woodworking and tinsmwith demonstrations and more!   • Canal Day Music & Craft Festival:Wharton's Canal Day Festival on August 18 is a country fair that celebrates the Morris Canal and its contribution to the communities along its banks. There will be live music, arts and craft displays, blacksmith demos, pony & hay rides, Civil War encampments, and more. The Canal Society of NJ will offer historical walking tours along the canal, as well as boat rides on the Canal Explorer on the waters of the Morris Canal!
